Warming up the crowd before the inspection of Queen’s Scouts on the hallowed turf of Windsor Castle’s Quadrangle
The Band was thrilled to be invited to play at Windsor Castle for the National Scout St George’s Day Parade in the presence of HRH The Duchess of Cambridge.
With 65 of us on parade, we warmed up the Quadrangle with a jazzy number in ‘It Don’t Mean a Thing’ and ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ from Disney’s The Lion King. We later returned to the Quadrangle with our colleagues from The Band of the Irish Guards for the inspection of the Queen’s Scouts. Alternating with the Guards Band, we showcased a couple of new numbers – ‘Soul Bossa Nova’ (from Austin Powers) and ‘Forget You’ (Cee Lo Green) alongside a rousing rendition of Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’. During our performance, Drum Major Franklin Barrington and Bandmaster Alison Eggitt were delighted to introduce Her Royal Highness to the Band.
After leading the 400 Queen’s Scouts down to St George’s Chapel, we then led the parade on the final step of the journey back though the town of WIndsor to the Royal Mews with more traditional marches including Sousa’s ‘The Thunderer’ and The Great Escape March.
