A large audience of parents and friends of the Band gathered at St. Mary’s Church in Cuddington recently for the third Spring Concert. The event is now a firm fixture in the diary and proved to be another pleasant evening for everyone. The Band were pleased to be able to show the results of their hard work over the winter months by playing several new pieces, including Soul Bossa Nova (from Austin Powers), Forget You by Ce Lo Green and Come Fly With Me (from the Rat Pack era). In addition to these, the audience were also treated to vocal performances in another two new pieces. Band member Rosie Eggitt overcame her first time nerves to sing “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King and Instructor Katy Eyre sang “Anthem” from the stage musical Chess. Both performances received rapturous applause!
We decided to do something different at this Concert and band members were offered the chance to perform their own choice of piece, as a solo, duet or bigger group. As a result, Molly & Caitlin performed a flute duet of “A Whole New World” from Aladdin and Becky, Eoin, Ellie & Isobel performed the folk piece “the Irish Washer Woman”. Both performances were great!
